刘知白:
刘知白(1915-2003) 1915年出生于中国安徽。1933年考入苏州美术专科学校中国画系。
1935年拜中国画系系主任顾彦平教授为师,潜心临摹“过云楼”藏历代名画并随乃师造访苏吴名流、藏家。
抗战期间携家人流徙于西南诸省。
1942年在广西全州与钱十严等共筹书画会社。
1948年提出“学时有他无我,化时有我无他”的治学方法与创新思想。一生倡导努力学习传统技法和精神,
到大自然中去写生寻找灵感,进而创造出新的绘画风格。
1964年就职于贵阳市美术研究所。
2003年逝世于贵阳。出版有《中国近现代名家画集-刘知白》等。
The brief introduction of Liu Zhibai:
Liu Zhibai, (1915-2003)was born in Anhui Province 1915. He entered Su Zhou Arts Academy for studying traditional Chinese painting in 1933. Started from 1935, he followed Gu Yanping, the dean of Chinese Painting Department for further research, thus allowed him to lucubrate for Gu’s collection of ancient masterpieces for three years. During Sino-Japanese War, he had to move incessantly with his family around Southwest of China. He found an art salon with Qian Shiyan and other famous artists in Quanzhou Guangxi Province of year 1942. Liu established his own scholarly method that is “When acquiring new knowledge , you must forget yourself; when creating, you must forget others” with creative thoughts. In his entire life, he advocated his view of contemporary artists should work hard to learn traditional painting skills and art spirit, paint more from life to extract inspiration from nature world, and finally create innovative painting style .He had worked for Guiyang Arts and Crafts Research Institute from 1964. In 2003, Liu Zhibai passed away in Guiyang. His most notable publication is the Great Painting Artists of Modern China: Liu Zhibai.
